2018 Giving It All Away Offering

One of the most exciting things we do at NCC happens on Christmas Eve! Every year, we collect our “Giving It All Away” offering to fund our outreach ministry called “Five.16”. Matthew 5:16 says, “…Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16 is about putting our faith into practice so others may see the love of God, that is why we call our outreach “Five.16”. It is our sincere hope that 2019 expands our outreach by helping many people with spiritual, physical and emotional needs.

Here is 2019’s Five.16 plan:

  • USCG “A-School” Students Dinner
    • There are many young Coast Guard men and women stationed here in Elizabeth City for training, drawing them away from home for extended periods of time. We have the opportunity to show hospitality by serving a meal to each “A-School” student during a church-wide event next year!
  • This August, we’re welcoming new ECSU Students back to school
    • Many students at ECSU have significant financial need. These needs place an added strain on practical essentials, such as hygiene and back to school items.
    • We’re working with ECSU to discover the best ways to alleviate some of these needs.
  • We’re making a one-time donation to Maritime Ministries of $500.
    • This ministry is based out of MACU and spearheaded by Dan Smith, Interim Vice President of Institutional Advancement.
    • Maritime Ministries is an evangelistic outreach using sailing to build relationships and have conversations about faith.
  • We have a year-long plan to serve the residents of Virginia Dare apartments in Elizabeth City.
    • All residents at Virginia Dare Apts are elderly with significant financial need.
    • NCC will coordinate groups of people to serve and minister to them in a variety of ways throughout the year.
  • Elizabeth City Christmas Dinner Packages
    • This project entails packing and distributing Christmas dinner packages to some of Elizabeth City’s citizens without resources for enough healthy food.
  • We’re sponsoring five Cuban Pastors’ work again this year.
    • The church is growing in Cuba!
    • We hope to continue sponsoring Cuban pastors and their thriving ministries there.
    • On a side note, two of our elders will travel to Cuba in March to see the work God is doing there first hand.
  • Additional funds are used for disaster relief and other practical needs within our church family as needed.

100% of this offering is given away! We hope you will prayerfully consider how to support this offering. Donations can be made during one of the Christmas Eve services, by texting the dollar amount to 84321 with the keyword GIAA and selecting New Community Church if prompted, or online HERE.

Series – The G.O.A.T. – December 2018

This Sunday begins our new Christmas series called, “The G.O.A.T.”

It’s always fun to compare athletes, or greatest people, to debate who is the greatest of all time.

But when it comes to the overall greatest, there really is no comparison! Jesus is the hands down winner!

This series will help each of us keep our eyes focused on Him during the crazy holiday season. We hope you join us each Sunday in December as well as bring a friend!

If you can not make it, we will also post the messages online HERE.

Pizza with the Pastors – December 2018

Have you been wanting to know more about New Community Church?  Hoping to know our pastors and staff a little better?

If you haven’t been attending New Community very long and have questions you’d like to ask…Good News, we’re having a Pizza with the Pastors!

Sunday, December 2nd, immediately following our 11am service, please join us in the church office building (right next door) for pizza and sharing about our church.

Please stop by our Information Center to sign-up.  We want to make sure we have enough pizza and childcare, if you need.  Hope to see you there!

Neighborhood Holiday Meal Five:16!

Thanks to our church’s generosity last Christmas through our Giving It All Away offering, New Community is helping feed our city! This December, we’ll be delivering meals to all 330 apartment units in the Debry, Harriot Heights and Harney Park neighborhoods.

The only way we can pull off this five.16 serving event is with your help!

On Wednesday, December 5th from 6:00-7:30pm, we need hands to help package the holiday meals in our Student Auditorium. And on Thursday, December 6th from 4:00-7:00pm, we need all hands (and feet!) on deck to deliver some holiday joy to our neighbors! Sign-ups for both activities are located at our Information Center.

Let’s share love by being a Compelling Presence for Christ this Christmas season!

When Pigs Fly – November 2018

On Sunday, we begin a 3 part series on select miracles of Jesus. Each miracle is hand-picked to speak into our spiritual lives. Not only will we witness flying pigs, but we will witness the Lord who has power over everything.

11/11/2018         When pigs fly.

11/18/2018         More than enough.

11/25/2018         Just say the word.

We hope you will join us each week for this fun and inspirational series.  If you can not make it, we will also post the messages online HERE.

When the Devil Knocks (October – November 2018)

Ever feel like you’re under attack? Like life is pressing in on every side?

Well, maybe you are.

In this 3-part series, we will take an in-depth look at the devil, and how he tries to wreak havoc in our lives. Specifically:

  • 10/21: He is a liar.
  • 10/28: He is the accuser (communion).
  • 11/4: He is the destroyer (baptism).

What do these attacks look like in our lives today? What can we do to be spiritually prepared? You will not want to miss any of the weeks in this important series. And please invite a friend!

Also note that we have a baptism service on 11/4. If you would like to be baptized, please fill out a baptism packet found at the information center and return by 10/28 or you can find out more online HERE.
