New Resource: YouVersion Events!

Last Sunday, we officially announced a new resource that we are starting to use on Sunday mornings.  On YouVersion events, you can find the scriptures that we are using, points from the message, other important information, and you can add your own notes as well!

If you do not have the Bible app, it is a free download!  You can download the app on Apple, Android, or any other smartphone device.

Once you open the Bible app, you will be on the main screen. Click the 3 lines on the bottom right, which is the MORE option.

On the next page, click on EVENTS.

Select the NEW COMMUNITY CHURCH event.

You can scroll down to follow along and make notes.

On the top of the event, you can click on SAVE so you can look back at your notes later.

Even if you’re not in town, you can see what we are talking about during a weekend service so you don’t miss a thing!

Baby Dedication Celebration

On Sunday, April 22nd as part of our services, we will be hosting a Baby Dedication Celebration.

Our Baby Dedication Celebrations are a time for parents to publicly commit to raising their child in a way that glorifies God, and for the church to commit to partnering with those families through that process.

If your family is interested, you can pick up a Baby Dedication packet from the Kidz Community check-in desk. Packets need to be completed by Sunday, April 15th.

For more information, you can contact Tim Chappell at timchappell@newcommunitychurch.net or 252-335-0015.

The Time is Now: Compelling Parents Conference 2018

Parenting is hard.

It’s easy to feel like you’re not doing a good enough job, worn out and defeated because no one else seems to have the struggles you do.  Or, perhaps you’re frustrated because the ideal picture of what your family would be when you grew up looks anything but that “perfect” image?

Despite these tough feelings (and so many more!), we are called to be a compelling presence, right there in our messy living rooms, crowded minivans and noisy dinner tables.  Amongst the extracurricular activities, sick days, cell phone arguments and peer interactions…we are to be compelling for our kids.

But what does a “compelling presence”  even look like, and is it a reality, with kids?

Good news…YES.

Mark your calendars and join us for our very first Compelling Parents Conference on Saturday, April 14th from 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM.  This year’s theme, “The Time is Now”, will help us focus on intentional parenting.  We’ll have breakout sessions on parenting sons and daughters, helping children cope with loss and grief, and the unique challenges of being a military family.

The Compelling Parents Conference is a day for you to engage in practical teaching and talk with other parents just like you!  Invite your parent friends!  Lunch and childcare are provided for all registered.

To register for the conference, please visit the Information Center on Sundays or register online anytime! Looking forward to having you here with us!  The time is now.

Amber Seneres will be joining us.

PCI five.16

Thanks to your generosity, New Community Church will be serving the staff at Pasquotank Correctional Institution (PCI) this March.   Our Giving It All Away offering, collected at Christmastime, is funding our church to say “Thank You” to those who keep our community safe.  We want the prison staff to know they are appreciated on a regular basis.

Ways you can get involved:

  1. Grab a few “Thank You” notes from our Information Center.  Share some words of encouragement and gratitude.  Return the cards to NCC’s Information Center by Sunday, March 11th.
  2. Like to bake?  Awesome!  We need individual packages of baked goods (cookies & brownies without peanuts) for our Thank You packages.  Please drop-off at NCC by Monday, March 12th.
  3. Join us for a packing party from 6:30-7:30pm Monday, March 12th, to assemble packages for PCI staff.
  4. Help deliver packages to the prison on Tue, March 13th or Fri, March 16th.  Times to be announced.

We are looking forward to seeing our church serve and love our local heroes.  Thanks for all the ways you continue to become a Compelling Presence for Christ in our community.
